Photographer of the Year 2013 PDF Print E-mail

This year is soon behind us, and as always, the MIPP is working hard to create an exciting event calendar for 2013. In our constant effort to improve and keep abreast with technology, this year we have taken a leap and radically changed the PTYA structure. More precisely, we have merged the Monthly Online competition with the PTYA to create something which is totally new and interesting. This year's PTYA will be completely digital, allowing more participants to submit their images. There will be no variable themes, but rather five categories - Architecture, Portraits, Street Photography, Scenes and Open - which will run throughout the competition. Every month, participants will be allowed to submit up to five images. These images may be spread throughout one or more of the categories (so you can submit anything between 5 images in one category and one image in each category). At the end of the month, we will collect all submissions, and our judges will exclude images which they deem not to be competition-worthy. The remaining images will be published on the MIPP Official facebook page, and every other month, these images are judged in a public session (dates of which will be published in the event calendar). The images will be scored by judges as Gold, Silver or Bronze, which awards will carry 5 points, 3 points and 1 point respectively. At the end of the 9 sessions (running from January to September) the person with the most points will be the photographer of the year.

We believe that this system will enable more participation, and also make the PTYA more interesting and competitive. The rules for the competition are attached in this email.
