Spring is in the air, and once again, the SWPP will be bringing over one of the top photographers in the UK to deliver a one day seminar in April. Marko Dutka is based in Bath, and runs an international studio specialising in fashion, commercial, fine art and weddings. His work has been published and exhibited nationally and internationally including several times in the Royal Photographic Society International Print Show.
Alison Nordstrom, curator of the George Eastman Gallery said of his Portrait of Genius collection, “Dutka’s comments on gender and power are brilliantly embedded in his strong and beautifully lit images.”
Marko has won over 36 major awards since 2004 and is a fellow of the BIPP. During the seminar, Marko will explore the concepts of simple yet stunning lighting in-studio during the first session entitled “Let there be light”. Following this, he will moving to more practical concepts with “Revelation”, a practical approach towards glamour and boudoir lighting through the used of portable equipment on location.
However, this is certainly not all that is in reserve for us. In between Marko’s sessions, the MIPP has sourced one of Malta’s best make-up artists to deliver a lecture on professional make-up techniques for photography. Mamie Spiteri has over 20 years of professional make-up artistry, both as a practitioner and as a lecturer. Since 2009, she runs the Principle School of Make-up, teaching make-up, lights, costume, hair and some forensic, topped off with a good dose of music and work ethics. Her one hour session promises to be one of great interest.
To conclude the weekend, Sunday will also be reserved for practical sessions, meeting at Sa Maison gardens for an afternoon workshop with Marko and other photographers, weather permitting.
